I want to get a dog, but a few issues have arised while pursuing the purchase.......
1) My boyfriend and I live in a 1 bedroom apartment (so a bigger dog is out of the question)
2) We live in a condo with a home owners association in which NO DOGS ARE ALLOWED so any dog purchase has to be approved by them....
3) I basically work long hours so i would be out at least 12 hrs a day, my boyfriend would be home in about 8 hrs, he says that its not fair for the dog to be alone for 8 hrs at a time.
I used to own a dog before and the dog spent the days alone and was very happy when everyone got home and gave him his fair share of attention...I dont think that if we potty train the dog and give him his fair share of attention and EXERCISE when were home this would be a problem for the little bunddle of joy..I really want a new puppy...another issue is that I read that alot of toy dogs become destructive when you leave them alone for a long time (even though my chihuahua never did that)

You have legitimate concerns and should consider an adult dog because a puppy should not be left alone for that long of a time period...it will need to be let out for potty and fed every few hours til the age of 8-10 months, when it should be able to hold it's bladder/bowel for 8 or so hours. And just because you can give your pup lots of love while you're home doesn't mean that can make up for the long amount of time you're gone. considering your living situation I would suggest you not get a dog until you either have more home time to spend with it, can get multiple pets to keep each other company, or have a home large enough for the pet to run and romp with outside secure access for potty time. Idle dogs of any size/breed can be quite destructive in the process of trying to get attention, keep themselves from being bored, not being socialized and training right, etc.

And little known fact..many large breed dogs are actually good apartment dogs as they tend to be less active.. IE great danes, mastiffs

I'm no longer certain approximately the legislation or if there are any, however a puppy needs to be in warmness to be pregnant. How historic was once the opposite puppy and was once she even in warmness? I do not consider you must need to pay for the puppy to get spayed. Vets do not as a rule love to spay puppies in warmness besides. So it's not going that if the puppy was once in warmness that it might be getting spayed tomorrow. Before you do pay for the spay get a few extra information.

NO DOGS ALLOWED!!!!!!! what part of the rules don't you understand,, maybe you should look to buy a home or get a new apartment with a small yard - a puppy is the last thing you need right now.. NO DOGS ALLOWED.....

Unless someone could come in at lunch time to walk and play with the pup or you could take it to doggy day care I wouldn't recommend getting a puppy. 8 hours is too long for a young puppy to be alone every day.

I think it would be unfair to get a dog at this point. Maybe waiting until you are more able to be home more often. Otherwise, if you do get one, make sure you crate train it so that it doesn't get hurt during those hours alone.
