This is a very opinionated question, and I'm sure you will get some heated responses. . . Here's mine. . . It depends on the person, the 'typical' 16 year old, no. Then again, what's typical? I am in a state where I would trust a 16 year old to drive better than I would the average resident (People don't know how to drive in FL) Sometimes (not always) younger drivers are better because they are more cautious, just out of drivers ed with the right (hopefully) ideas freshly engrained in their heads. That's not always the case though. Also, if you are talking about jumping on the freeway versus going around the block, that is another consideration. I don't know traffic where you are at, I can only remember how it was when I started driving. (ahhh open county roads, no traffic, etc.) and I think I agree w/ Ageshu, reforms for testing should be done. Less age restricitve, more restrictive by ability

In my opinion it depends on the maturity and skill of the 16 year old. I was allowed to drive on my own at age 14 (school permit), however, my brother was never allowed until he graduated from high school. Good kid + good driver = yes.

this is a very controversial question- this is ,my opinion depends on the maturity and how responsible this 16 year old is a car or truck is a powerful object youve got to be responsible behind that wheel that goes for any age i have saw 40 year olds who shouldnt be alowed to be behind the wheel i am 60 years old there should be closer testing for all ages -mental;ly and physically my opinion ageshu

If they got a license, why not?

I got my license at 17 and my parents not only let me drive alone but also bought me a new car. Never got in to an accident.
