I've flat ironed my hair once, it truly damaged it, till I just have to have it cut, it became like a wire, soooooo. . disappointed. I was so annoyed with myself. I thought I probably don't know how to use it. I have a short hair now as a result. (not short short)
PLEASE HELP, I still wanna use it without having the same problem .

divide your hair into sections, using elastics or clips or whatever. start with the back pieces then move up to the front. always use some sort of hair serum or product. it will protect your hair from the heat. and dont keep passing the iron over your hair, do it once or twice, then run your fingers throught it or comb and brush it. hope my info is useful. =]

It helps if you have a quality flat iron. Any ceramic one will do.
When you're ironing it, make sure to NOT HOLD IT IN ONE SPOT! Also try sections, so you don't have to iron the same peices of hair over and over.
You can also put a protectant in your hair once you get out of the shower. Damage controll sounds like that'd be best for you. You can find it at the grocery store. Silkening cream (after the ironing) is great for the ends.

i would suggest using a spray that is for flat ironing your hair...protects your hair from the damaging effects ....you can buy a protective spray in any salon or there's always walmart way too...i would probably invest also in a good flat iron as well....oh and don't leave your hair in the iron to long you'll fry it...smooth fast strokes...
hope that helps you...

Most importantly, make sure you have some sort of product on your hair before using one. If not, you are burning your hair.

I think you should use straighting balm or lotion then dry your hair till it is completely dry. then use your flat iron with small sections of hair at a time.
