If you're not afraid, doing something doesn't take courage. FEAR is what it takes the courage to 'deal with' while you're taking 'care' of the thing you fear most. By MASTERING FEAR, you show the greatest courage. By 'deleting' fear, you become simply FOOLISH in most cases.

Courage is when you already mastered fear, so you fear no longer. It isn't "absence of fear" because you still feel fear.

Absence of fear is when you are not afraid. Courage is when you are afraid but you are brave and you deal with it.

Basically it means that everybody fears things, but those who can push forward anyway and master their fear or resist stopping because of the fear have conquered fear.

Some people think those that demonstate courage are not afraid. That's completely wrong. They are afraid, they just don't let it stop them.

I believe it means that one can be afraid and still have courage. A courageous person controls (masters) his/her fear; this person does not let fear control him/her. A courageous person chooses to act in spite of the fear.

A person may be fearful of a particular thing and that's acceptable. But being overcome by fear is negative, one needs to resist fear and master it and control it.
