Clenching and grinding your teeth at night is called BRUXISM. Do a google search and look it up and you'll find a lot of information about it.
Generally, your dentist or an orthodontist can give you (or make you) a mouth guard that you can wear at night. There are also "over the counter" devices which I believe you can buy right off the web for this purpose. You could try one of those first. If your headaches persist, then I would recommend seeing a dentist or orthodonitst and having a custom guard made.

There is a device called the "Dr's NIghtGuard" you can get it at any walgreens or walmart and that' may help with your clinching. If that doesn't seem to work go to you Dentist and they can fabricate a device called a Night Gurard it's made of super hard acrylic. Most fit onto the upper teeth and are smooth so the bottom teeth can slid across it if you grind also. It takes the presure off your teeth... So see how the first works if it helps then stay with that if not go to the dr. Good luck

I have a guard on the bottom teeth which is only from your dentist and make sure its a soft one which is quite comfortable. I also have to place it in acid twice a year to remove the calcium.

Take your teeth out at night.
Otherwise try a sleep 'yoga'. When you are preparing to go to sleep, imagine you are descending 10 steps, slowly, one by one and counting.
When you get to the bottom of the stairs or steps you find yourself in a restful place, a haven. A place where you would love to be, without tension, where nothing stressful ever happens and where you feel safe and comfortable.
Roam around this place and feel good.

I do this too and end up with a sore jaw! I asked my dentist and he suggested I try a gumshield thing - they make it from a mould of your teeth and you wear it over your top teeth overnight. Unfortunately mine isn't very comfortable, but it's probably worth a try... definitely ask your dentist for advice.

I've never heard of a way to stop yourself from doing it, but many people wear a mouth guard to absorb the pressure, similar to the one I'll source.

there is a product you can buy over the counter at stores like walmart, walgreens etc... it's a bite guard for when you sleep to help people from gritting their teeth or clinching them... it provides them with a cushion. hope that helps.
