THE PRESENT

Nestled 'neath the Christmas tree,
Among tinsel and sparkling lights;
Lay a package in red and green splendor,
Much to the child's delight.
Little hands reached out eagerly,
Tore paper away without care;
Searching for the greatest gift,
He was sure that he would find there.

Before him the package was empty,
And the paper torn all apart;
The Mother spoke gently to the child,
"The Present is there in your heart."
Through tears of disappointment,
He tried so to understand,
The Gift he received on that winter day,
Would remain as boy became man.

For years he remembered his Mother's words,
Of the Present from Heaven above;
The Greatest Gift he ever received,
Jesus, the Gift of God's love.

Apparently there are at least two poems with the same title.

This site says it's Anna-Claire Neu.

IS THIS IT?

Present.

I did that already.
Walked into
the big guys office
threw company I.D.
on desk,
told him F/U
walked out
chest puffed!

Never
go to work
on your birthday,
unless
you’re
really happy
with your job,

cause
that one impulse
present
you may decide
to give yourself.

could end up
biting you in the ***,
a few hours later..
