I hear this a lot and see it on the Internet quite a bit. What does this term "ballin'" mean anyway? Is it a vulgar term or is it just something to describe hanging out with one's friends?

Since I got a lot more responses than I expected, I'll go ahead and put the question to vote. Pick the answer that would best fit your response (not necessarily the first one but pick the first one if you want).

Ballin, is slang for either selling large quantities of drugs, turning a profit off of any activity where something is sold, being well off financially, or playing basketball well. Someone who is ballin is known as a baller. The term ballin (technically ballin'...an abbreviation of the word balling) draws its origins from the illegal cocaine trade. On the upper rungs of the drug trade, dealers buy cocaine by the kilogram (kilo or key), and distribute to lower dealers in portions of an 1/8 ounce (known as an eightball, or ball). Therefore, a drug dealer who is ballin' is buying kilo's of cocaine at a bulk price, and selling eighth's of an ounce to lesser dealers at an inflated price. 1. He's ballin' coke all day, everyday. 2. Once I get my wood shop up and running, I'm gonna be ballin' cabinets. 3. Did you see that fat wad of cash? That dude is ballin'! 4. Those guys on the court are ballin'!

"Ballin" can mean to things. A) you have money and using it freely, you got style, etc. B) Basketball. When you're playing the game you are ballin. so no, its not vulgar at all. And FYI - you sound way smart in your question. :-)

It's just a term to mean playing basketball or headed down to the courts. There isn't anything vulgar about it.

Is Ballin' a noun or a verb? I have heard of it as a verb. That is a vulgar term that way.

It means you have a lot of money and can spend it recklessly on things you dont really need. It means you're cool basically. Its not a vulgar term. its just another term to describe having a fun time because you have so much money or nice things.
