they are following what there religion believes. Sadly they may lose there babies because of this. I don't know this case as I'm guessing it is not Australia, but I am guessing they used IVF or similar. What is wrong is the doctors that allow this to happen. In Australia Doctors are legally only allowed to implant 2 eggs and they are looking at changing this to 1. A human is not meant to have 6 babies. This is a litter. I know there are a few cases of natural quintuplets but this is extremely rare. Doctors have something to answer to, they should be ashamed of themselves. The chances of this pregnancy turning out well even if they had blood transfusions are remote. They will be born prem. and there are life long complications that come with this. I wish this family luck but they are going to need a lot more than this

Isn't it ironic that the same people who feel Jehovah's Witnesses are so terrible in not allowing blood transfusions on their children, feel the parents should have killed them while still in utero, through a so-called "selective abortion!" Are they any less your child while they are inside you? The Bible says, "...Your eyes saw even the embryo of me, and in your book all its parts were down in writing, as regards THE DAYS WHEN THEY WERE FORMED and there was not yet one among them." Psalms 139:13-16.
Read Exodus 21:22,23: if men were to struggle and hurt a pregnant woman and she lost the baby, they were to give soul for soul! Obviously God views an unborn baby as just that, an unborn BABY, a LIFE.
As previously stated, Jehovah's Witnesses love their children, and BECAUSE they love them, they follow the Bible's command to abstain from blood, not from medical help, blood only! Would you say we as humans know what is best for us, or God who made us?

These loving parents are no more hypocrites than the parents who adopted a child to love and raise, and then send that child off to war to die.

If every parent stopped their children from going to war what kind of world would be have?

Did you read the reason that the children will probably need blood?

It is because of all the blood the doctors remove from the babies.

It is because the doctors don't know all the bloodless treatments that are now available.

Instead of judging what you do not know (none of us know all the facts) Why not ask yourself,

Do I have the faith to remain faithful under similar tests?

I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses. We, by NO means, refuse needed medical attention. We refuse ONE option in a sea of options. As technology advances so do all the options available to us.

I have had the personal experience of refusing a blood transfusion. If you would like to know the details of my situation see this link: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

Trust me these parents love their babies and want the best possible medical treatment for them. That does NOT have to include blood.

As Jehovah's Witnesses, we are encouraged to research a number of alternatives. We are directed to fill out a Medical Directive listing out ALL the alternatives we are individually comfortable using. We always discuss these alternatives with our doctors in advance (Just in case!!). We do not take the decision lightly. We do not think that praying for some miracle is better than medical care. That is some other religion, but I can't remember who.

I hope this helps all those who truly are concerned about the welfare of our children, and reassures them that we, as well, are concerned for our little ones.

Tech ain't Blood. I say this while on my puter. It is not technology we oppose. We honor Jehovah's mandates to abstain from blood. As to the question of hypocrisy, NO. IF they chose to conceive that way that is their CHOICE. If they choose to not use a procedure, that BTW is not fool proof, that is their CHOICE. There are many alternatives to using Blood. Doctors often say using blood is the only way when it is not, case in point, were not leaches once the norm. As time has progressed the medical community has come to realize that giving blood is not always even a good idea. I will not be surprised if in another 10 years people on here are asking about that "abusive" parent that gave his child a blood transfusion.

PS Where is this article, I keep seeing people mentioning it yet have seen nothing on it, is their a link??

ok...my answer is a two part answer...allow me to say that I persoanlly don't agree...no matter what, I think any length should be taken to save these babies. (that is part one)

The second part is this...it is not the technology that their religion is against. The technology is fine, what the church has problems with (as far as I understand it) is the spirit (or chi, or life or whatever your preferred terminology is) that is believed to be carried in the blood being transferred from one being to another. More explanation on why JW abstain from blood transfusions can be found at this Yahoo answer's link (the best answer actually tells it best)

I personally think that would should not judge them because we don't know what their full reasoning is. I can tell you my experiance on blood transfussions though. It is not an easy thing to have a child have a transfussion and no matter how well the blood is screened there are still things out there that get past technology, which has indeed been my experiance and resulted in yet another transfussions, most religions preach againt it because of the risks involved.

Yes. It's kind of like that couple years ago. The doctor told the couple how dangerous carrying 6-7 would be and that they should really have what I think is called a selective abortion. They refused because "the babies were god's gift". Keep in mind that they got pregnant using technology as well...how is playing with nature a gift?

I am not jehovas witness, but I still cannot fathom how anyone could let their babies die when there is a way to help them. Seriously? I didnt know about that. I think God would forgive them for saving their babies lives. But I cannot judge as I do not understand their religion. I'm not sure why they don't believe in transfusions though.
