Yes, cats are very in tune to feelings. If you are in a good mood, they know it and will be playful. If you are sad, they will be loving and act different. They even know when the weathers going to change. I never beleived it when I was younger. One day my 10 year old cat started walking in circles crying trying to get my attention. I didn't understand and we were about headed to visit the vet, and my mom yelled a few hours after the cat started meowing...TWISTER!!! My cat. Muffie had known something was going on. Right outside a funnel cloud started forming and it was on the news too, all across the valley there were sightings all morning long. Too wierd!

Not laughing at you at all. Most cats are extremely perceptive and are very sensitive to their humans' moods. They typically are aware of when we are sad or angry as well as when we are happy if they have been with us long enough to know our personalities at all. I have found my own cats reactions to tears interesting. While I do get sad, I don't cry often. So, when I do cry, I find that I have to offer my cats great reassurance in the form of petting them and telling them that that it is okay because they become visibly agitated when they see me cry. They become restless, pace near me and meow repeatedly. They will settle down if I pet them and reassure them that it is okay and then sit with me until I'm done crying. Once they've settled, they don't leave me until I'm done crying. This, in my opinion, is evidence that they feel my sorrow. I've raised many cats and all have reacted in some way or another to my moments of sadness or anger. I now also have a daughter who is old enough to express herself emotionally and the cats react to her in this manner as well. They become visibly upset when she is upset. This simply affirms that they know their humans' well.

Not laughing at you at all. My cats are very attuned to my husband's and my moods. They get playful and act happy when we feel happy, and they even seem to be able to differentiate when one of us is okay and the other is down, angry, frustrated, whatever. What's really cool is we have this one cat who literally comes running to my aid if I'm crying. She crawls up on my lap on on top of if I'm in bed, reaches her front legs out on me as if she's trying to hug me, purrs, and snuggles close; she doesn't even move if she gets tears on her, and this is a cat who hates getting wet otherwise..

So yes, cats can feel both you sorrow, but any other mood as well.

Yes. Your cat knows and feels everything you do. Your cat even speaks to you in your sleep. Pet your cat. Make your cat feel safe and secure, as you surely would like to feel. Feed your cat too cause it might be hungry. I don't know. Are you hungry?
