this question has a condraction.

-okay, it says in clue 4 that mr. copper bought the gold brooch
-and then it says in clue 1 that mr. silver only got gold jewelry. this means that he got the gold earrings
-then it says in clue 5 that ms. pearl bought earrings. she would have to have bought the emerald earrings since mr. silver got the gold earrings
-and because of that mrs. ruby bought the emeral ring according to clue 2
-the two that are left are ms opal and mr. topaz. now it says in clue 6 that miss opal's item costs half of the diamond ring, which means she bought the diamond necklace and mr. topaz bought the diamond ring.

here's the contradiction.
-miss opal's item costs half as much as the diamond ring and she bought the necklace. it says in clue 3 that the necklace was sold for 3700 and it was the highest priced item. that means it couldn't be half as much as the diamond ring so that means this whole thing is a contradiction.... unless i made a mistake somewhere.
