Definitely you can! And it is fun too.. Get a clean 1lb. coffee can. Add your favorite ice cream mix in it. Tape the lid on really, really good (duct tape works well). Put this can into a 3lb clean coffee can. Add your ice and rock salt in the 3lb can around the 1lb can. Tape the lid on the 3lb coffee can really good. Put it on the floor and roll it back and forth. (This is what my grand-babies do). The ice cream mixture will freeze just like in a regular ice cream freezer. We call it tin can ice cream. It is really good. Hope this helps.

Yes, just stir the mixture in the fridge every half hour.

A secret for making ice cream: Make sure your mixture is COLD before you put it to freeze. Otherwise, you will have big chunks of ice in the icecream.

you could make small servings from scratch without the hardware with information from making use of one quart length and one gallon length ziploc bag (propose the heavy-duty "storage" type). stumble on a recipe for the flavour of your decision on-line and placed those elements contained in the quart bag. you would possibly want to favor to scale it down slightly with the aid of length. placed the quart bag, overwhelmed ice, and a beneficiant helping of salt contained in the gallon bag. Now shake vigorously! This procedure receives you the same cooling chemical reaction used with information from mechanical ice cream makers, the position the salted ice straight away chills the cream blend below the temperature carried out with information from ice on my own. that's a small serving yet luggage are low-priced and childrens imagine it is countless exciting to make their own!

There are tons of recipes on the web that do not require a maker - just google it and play around until you find one you like. Even ones for kids that use zip loc bags.
