Yes, she is jail bait and if you have sex with her you could very well end up in the slammer. Then all the big, mean, nasy, smelly uglies in the jail will have YOU for a new girlfriend. Enjoy.

Well you could be sued, but that would be from her parents.
You could be charged with statutory rape, however, you would either have to get caught e.g cop sees you in a back seat, or her parents catch you and decide to report it.
Also depends on your state, the state of Kentucky age of consent I THINK is 14 or perhaps 15, I know it's much lower than anywhere else. So just because you have sex does not mean you instantly get charged with rape, there are other factors and 17 vs 21 is not an age difference that is going to make most prosecutors get too excited.
It's not black and white.

That depends on which state you live in. In some states it depends on the age of consent and the differences in your ages. In my state the age of consent is 16 as long as the other party isn't more than 4 years older. You would be right on the line here. Be very careful. Even if the parents condone your relationship (and I can't see how they can) you can still get into trouble if you would happen to tick them off. They can always press charges later.
Sued would be the least of your worries, you can be incarcerated and forced to register as a sex offender for the rest of your life. Then when you grow up and try to date within your own age group, no decent woman will have a thing to do with you. You might want to try dating someone your own age now. Less hassle.

well nice hypothetical there bud.
The law would be determined by the state inwhich you live.
you can go to jail under these circumstances, broadly placed:
if you are legally an adult (male or female) and you have sexual intercourse, or any type of sexual classified contacts and/or acts, then you violate the law in most United States.
I know a guy that was 18, he planned to marry a girl that was 15, they were having sexual intercourse and she got pregnant.
The parents of this girl consented to the marriage, just as the boys parents did, so none of the parents had any problems regarding this union what so ever.
The problem arrived as soon as the state attorney generals office files criminal action against the boy, based on the criminal code of the state, he was convicted by the state and received 20 years for statutory rape.
There is no defense to statutory rape, contact, etc., merely based on the fact (even proof) that all parties action are willing, the United States Supreme Court has previously held to clearly state that, "a minor CAN NOT consent"! Therefore, it is a criminal action if you fall under this catagory.

You would not be sued. Depending on the state you live in the legal age of consent varies. If I were you I would wait until she is 18 just to be on the safe side.
As for the people responding like you are a terrible person, SHAME on them. At least you are considerate enough to worry about the consequences, not to mention that being 4 years older than her is not a big deal.
Hope you make the right decision.

Only if her parents make a complaint.
I don't know where u live but I know that in Australia a 16 yrs old can only have sex with someone upto 18 yrs old and a 17 yr old can only have sex with someone up to 19 yrs old.
If her parents are open then have a chat with them.
When I was 16 I was with a 19 yrs old and we had a talk with his parents cause they were worried.
all I can suggest is be open and tell her your worries. Cause I think in some places its not just the act of sex but carnal knowledge as well so thats any sexual act.
Trend carefully!!

Well there is more than two years age difference between the two of you so in this state you could be charged with statutory rape. She is almost an emancipated person but still considered a minor for most purposes.
If convicted of this criminal charge in my state, then you would be a sex offender in Texas and would always have to register as a sex offender whenever you got out of PRISON!

Check with your local law enforcement.
The laws regarding this subject vary widely, depending on your location.
Not only does the legal age change by jurisdiction, but the difference in age is sometimes considered.
You get "sued" in a civil court. This usually happens after the conviction in a criminal court.
Having sex with a minor is a criminal offense. Conviction can lead to jail time and a lifetime of registration as a sex offender.
Keep it in your pants until she is old enough, or move on to someone that is old enough to make those decisions without having to worry about the legal ramifications.

It depends on a lot of factors, especially the state in which you both reside, what the age of consent is, etc. I wouldn't think they'd do anything if your gf is close to age 18. It may be different if she just turned 17.
I would check with your state's website. There should be something there.
(And personally, I think there are more dangerous people to be putting in jail than a guy whose girlfriend is 17 ...like rapists and murderers!)

It is a criminal offense. You won't be "sued" but you probably will be arrested. Where I live in Wisconsin it is a Class A Misdemeanor punishable by a fine of up to $10,000 and/or 9 months in jail, for "Sex With Child 16 and Over". Some states it might be felony if age is under 18, and you sure don't want to be charged with a felony.

My high school teacher's friend was in the same situation. One day he did something that really ticked off his parents so they ended up calling the police. He was arrested, went to jail, and is now a registered sex offender. Just because his girlfriend was up to having sex, doesn't mean the state was.
Seriously, don't do it!! I don't doubt that you're a good person, but the government doesn't care!!!! Is it really worth it with the risk of becoming a sex offender???
