Ask him about himself. Guys love to talk about ourselves. It's our favorite subject.

How about "I've always wanted to talk to you but could never muster the courage".
Of course be careful you aren't taken advantage of, used, abused, screwed, blued and tattooed and then tossed aside.
That'd make you feel used and cheap. So play coy...not like a dog panting with it's tounge hanging out. Get it?

This is really something you need to decide on your own since you are the only one who knows this guy. Ask him about something you have in common (or maybe ask about his favorite sport, common friends or school) so you can strike a conversation and then just follow the conversation from there.

Hi, my name is Sloppy Joe. What's your name? Rick, Oh really. That's the cutest name I ever heard. Are you waiting for anyone right now? No, you're not, that's cool, would you mind telling me a little about yourself? Why, I just want to get to know you....... ..(If I was a girl I would probally say something like that to him).

Be natural...say something funny and you'll be on a roll - guys love some good humor, and it'll make you instantly comfortable with each other

Just talk to him like you would talk to anyone else...like a friend. You have to take it slow because although you may have liked him for a long time, he doesn't know that.

Find out what you have in common and talk about that.
There are 6 question words you can use to elicit conversation:
Who
What
When
Why
Where
How
Good luck!

just be yourself. don't worry about having to be a certain way. don't think about anything at all. if he doesn't like you for who you are then you don't need to be around him in the first place. calm down. everything will be alright.
