My grandma always told me that when a woman miscarries, it's because God knew that something bad was going to happen to the child and/or the mother, so He would make better plans for them.
God Bless you and yours, you're in our prayers.

I am very sorry for your loss and your grief. I really doubt it was something that the mother did as some people have suggested. More than likely there was something wrong with the baby which is why most people miscarry in their first trimester. It doesn't make sense to dwell on what may have caused the miscarriage because chances are you will never know. I lost a child at 10 weeks and although it was a loss, I understood it wasn't meant to be. That was my first pregnancy and I went on and had three beautiful children. Just find comfort in knowing that she will most likely become pregnant again and bless you with a grandchild.

Roughly 90% of miscarriages are thought to occur because of some kind of chromosomal abnormality. Many times a miscarriage happens so early that the woman doesn't even know she's pregnant and sometimes it happens later on. It is thought that between 20-25% of all pregnancies end in a miscarriage, so it is not a very uncommon thing.
Just keep in mind that the person who experiences a miscarriage did not do anything to harm the baby or cause it. It's something that just happens and most people go on to have normal, healthy pregnancies in the future! : )

Could be a number of different things, genetic abnormality being the most common cause. I had this with my first pregnancy, and miscarried during the 12th week. The fetus was just not formed correctly, and was expelled. I was healthy, and taking my prenatal vitamins, etc., but for some reason something went wrong in the process of growth for the fetus. It is the most common reason that pregnancies fail, and miscarriage happens in about 20% of all pregnancies. It is most likely nothing that could have been stopped or controlled. I sympathize with your daughter in-law's loss.

Many things can. It's impossible to list all that can go wrong. Many times, when there is something wrong, the body knows what to do.
