Though the casualty rates are much lower, and the cost higher, the main comparison I see between the Iraq and Viet Nam conflict is that our soldiers have done everything we could have asked of them, and our politicians have done everything to insure that victory of any kind is impossible. What a horrid bunch of puling, partisan, plutocrat pukes we have now misgoverning our once great nation. Neither party is worth a cup of cold drool.

The part where the democrats have lost their balls is certainly true. The reason for being there, the real reason, sure makes a lot of sense unless you cowardly pukes want to see another 9/11. Frankly, I like fighting wars on their turf, but you masochistic liberals seem to enjoy seeing buildings collapse.
I believe this Islamic jihad must be destroyed before our people come home. This is in contrast to Vietnam never being a threat to the US.
Your feelings for the troops is moot. They have been assigned a job to do and they will do it. Let their commanders decide how they should be dealt with or felt sorry for. Damn! I can never recall a commanding officer telling me that he felt sorry for me. That's a stupid civilian idiosyncrasy, it has no place in the military!
For now, we have a serious threat in the middle east and what we are seeing today is probably just the beginning. Iran's nuclear complex must be destroyed. Syria and Iran's leadership must be replaced with rational people. Hezbollah must be destroyed. Hamas must be destroyed. Syria must exit Lebanon. The Taliban must be destroyed. Maybe, once all this happens, we can bring our troops home. In the meantime.........................!

Nope, the only thing that this activity in Iraq has in common with Vietnam is that American soldiers are there. All similarities cease after that.

Lyndon Johnson was willing to listen to his advisors and generals. Georgie does not do that. If he would, we could have been out of Iraq in 2004. Over 3000 dead in America and the scenario just gets worse every day. Shameful.

The same US companies that made a bundle on the Viet War are making a Killing on this one. Bechtel , Brown & Root ( now KBR) Halliburton, all the major defense contractors and oil companies.
The USA is a WAR MONGER nation...the LAST think we want is Peace.
You should know what the soldiers said about the Viet WAR "everybody loves peace too bad there is no money in it"
I have ZERO sympathy for our troops, I have sympathy for the IRAQIS that have been killed because of this war.
We killed 3.5 million Vietnamese and still lost that war and are still whining about the 58 k we lost.
US politicians should be hanging from the gallows for BOTH wars.

Of course it is. The soldiers have been there for 4 years already. And you can bet that the 20,000 troops that are about to be sent in will be there for about 3 more years.
