Normally, you drink blood, you do not eat it. But if you boil it, then it hardens and it's the time you can eat it. Side effects depends on the on the animal you drew the blood from. If the animal is sick with infectious disease then you might get infected too. If you drink the blood of a human being and he has aids, you know what will happen. If you drink the blood of an slaughtered animal like goat or cow (I have not heard of anyone drank the blood of chicken or pig yet), the initial effect is nausea but just I said, it might have a disease that you might get infected.
On the side of religious belief, blood is life that runs through the veins of a living creature. Loss of it means loss of one's life. Eating eat it or drinking it may mean taking other's life. Although taking in blood from others who gave it willingly for you may help save your life.

Perhaps a higher risk of heart attack and other complications liked to the high iron content. Also, many diseases are blood bourn, that is why they ask so many questions before you donate blood, and why no other country will accept blood from prople who lived the UK during the mad cow disease outbreak. Appart from that blood has many nutrients and is an important part of the diet for some African cattle herding tribes.

The primary side effect of eating blood is Sulphur poisoning. You need to consume over a pint of it for this effect. Beyond that, it is possible to pass on diseases if the consumer has sores or ulcers in the digestive tract.

We were studying that. Do you know that just as the blood carries nutrients to nourish the cells in the body it also carries away the waste products. Keeping them from hurting you but carrying hepatitis to e coli bacteria. So when you drink blood it is watered down feces. That is why most slaughter houses drain off the blood because this rotten material rot's the meat.
Every bad thing in the body that it is trying to get rid of is in the blood. That is the body's way of cleaning its self.
