It's natural for girls to want to grow up and do all the 'womenly" stuff early. They think its mature or "cool". It's hard to hard girls back from being mature. The rest of us {females} know, sometimes being female isn't fun. I would tell her its ok or natural to shave her legs when one of the following happen:

1- when her underarm hair grows in (dark vs. baby looking hairs).
2- when she gets her period (sometimes that means the underarm hairs are going to grow in soon, if they haven't already).

This way, age isn't necessarily a factor as much as the maturity of her body. Each girl is different.

Make sure you tell your daughter what happens to your leg hair after what happens to leg hair after you shave it. Show her your legs as an example.

For example, I was 9 when I got my period. My mom explained everything to me, but didn't teach me about shaving yet. When I was about 12, my underarm hair started growing in, then she taught me all about shaving.
Good luck!

I wish my Mom would have saved me the humiliation and told me when to start shaving.
Instead, one of my friends at the time brought it to my attention.
It was embarassing.
If you think she is reaching the age where she needs to start shaving, make her aware of this and show her how to do it correctly.
The first time I shaved I cut my legs up really badly because my friend didn't tell me the proper way to go about it.
Spare your daughter the embarassment of finding out about shaving from someone else and tell her yourself.
I think my Mom thought that I was still too young to shave but honestly, if there's hair that is noticeable and others notice it, I see nothing wrong with shaving.
Hope this helped!

If she is asking to shave now, I'd let her. I'm Italian and have thick hair on my legs and I started to shave at about 10. I used to get teased but after my mom showed me noone ever said anything after that.

My daughters were born with really dark hair and the hair on their legs grew really long. When they turned 9, I told them they could shave their legs whenever they wanted too and they did but it turned into just another chore for them and they just let the hair on their legs grow and grow!! If she's old enough to handle a razor safely and she wants to, let her. It's only hair and there are many other things that you will want to put your foot down on.

I don't have girls but I begged my mom to let me shave my legs. She let me when I was 11 and that's about the same age all my friends were.

You're 13 yrs old, I think you are old enough. I just read your other questions and you seem to have a shaving feddish. It's not that big of a deal. Just be careful and don't cut yourself.

I was hairy (I am Italian w/dark hair), but my mom was insistent on me waiting until 7th grade... The teasing was at times was very difficult to handle especially as a young girl, but it helped me to see who my true friends were & helped me develop character & a thick skin to ignorant, image consumed girls! I was mad at mom for awhile, but now (I'm 25) No biggy, we kind of laugh about it now!
