It will causes a "surge". But I think that will mean a surge in everything. A surge in insurgents, in attacks, in deaths, in costs. Since very little positive is going on, a "surge" doesn't really mean much to me.

Increasing the troops accomplishes a lot. If you haven't noticed, there are a lot more training brigades headed that way to take part in the security and training of the Iraqi police and military forces. On the other hand, violence is still prevailent and the increace in troops accomplishes a decrease in Iraqis!

It wont accomplish anything, and there are too many consequences to say. There is ABSOLUTELY NO reason why we are in Iraq right now... and if anyone can give me a good reason... I will be truely amazed!

It will all be in vain, if the Iraqis are NOT competent to hold the ground won for them, by American blood and sweat.

I believe this is a question that should be directed to the Pentagon. For the first time since this whole damn thing began, we are getting serious input from the Pentagon, as it should be!
