Don't listen to the first person who answered. Birds DO get depressed.

Try putting him by a window, so he can see all of the activity outside.

He is probably still adjusting to your home. He likely had other birds with him before, and he's lonely. If it's possible, get another bird to keep him company. :)

Give him a week or two. He's just adjusting. It helped me when I talked to my baby bird like it was a child. Offer him a treat and praise him. It took my bird 2 weeks to relax and start chirping and playing.Teach him how to play with his toys using enthusiasm. These flock birds listen to the leader and will learn how to have fun with bathing, playing, and learning new things by being shown by you. You and this bird will have a great relationship.

He may be missing his other bird companions. Keep up doing what you are doing. If it gets really stressed it will begin to pluck out his feathers and going bald.

Just handle him lots. I'm sure you're doing a great job.

A bird depressed? Get real. He just misses his mom or other housemates.
