in a perfect world, you really shouldn't. however, so long as you are truly restricting yourself to one cup a day, and otherwise eating healthy...there shouldn't be a problem. trouble starts when you drink numerous cups of coffee a day, which is both bad for you and your baby

I stayed away from it the first 8 weeks, but my doc told me that as long as you aren't drinking more than 3 cups a day, I would be okay. I drank a cup a day after that.
It is very HARD for me to go without my morning coffee, but I must ask you: Are you drinking coffee to stay awake? Maybe a good long rest would be better for you. Pregnancy can make you really tired, no matter what!
I was just a little nervous and didn't drink coffee for a while because I had a miscarriage before, so I wanted to do everything right.
Don't worry too much. Worse than drinking one cup of coffee is NOT taking your prenatal vitamins, or not eating right.

As far as the caffine part I would say yes. I drank several cups a day with my dad before I found out I was even pregnant. That was 12 years ago and my son turned out ok. I wouldn't drink a whole pot or anything but I wouldn't say stay away from it either (if you like it that is).
*Just limit your intake as with any caffine drink.

My doctor told me that as long as I only had one regular-sized, average-strength cup per day, it wouldn't do any harm. She also specified that pop (soda in the U.S.A.), tea, and chocolate also contain caffeine, so be aware of that. If you've already had a tea, a pop, and some chocolate, you're probably nearing your safe caffeine limit for the day without the coffee.

I had one cup of coffee a day while I was pregnant with my son. Exessive caffiene intake could be harmful. (I am talking 4-7 cups a day).

try decaf. Yes, regular coffee is bad, but not as bad as alcohol or cigarettes.
