I'm going to go with cheating being worse. Some smartypants is going to say that all sins are equal in the eyes of the Lord, but clearly that's not right - otherwise raping a child would be the same as being lazy on a Saturday morning when there are chores to be done. Is that really true? No way.

So clearly we can make moral judgments on which ones are worse than others. You need to decide for yourself which is worse, but I think most people would say cheating, depending on the conditions of the theft. Are we stealing to feed a starving family, or stealing a golden parachute from the company's pension fund?

All sin is not equal. Some are worse than others. While God does not allow any sin in his presence, that is why there is repentence and forgiveness. Part of this includes restitution, paying back what damage you have caused. This is why some sins are much more serious than others. A 10 year old who steals a candy bar can make restitution and ask for forgiveness. A murderer can ask for forgiveness, but cannot replace the life that was taken.

i read the other answers, and i was surprised. a lot of people say, "sin is sin. they are all the same in the eyes of god." is stealing a pen REALLY as bad as killing your parent? a pen can be returned, an apology can be given, and the crime can be forgiven. you can't give back a life, you can't apologize, and you can't be forgiven for a murder.

i would think that it would depend on the severity of the sin. whether or not the cheating was in the form of a kiss and just that, or if it was a 2 year affair. whether or not the money was 2 dollars, or 5,000. each case would be different.

Both are bad, but cheating on your wife is probably worse though.

Yes, Jesus died to forgive all sin. Howver, the effects of sin are different.

To restore a person for stealing money in the Leviticus law required you to restore the money plus extra money.

Cheating on your spouse is betraying a vow you made and can not be restored.

Marriage is a vow made to God. Read the book of Hosea, God called Hosea to forgive and reclaim his cheating wife. This is a representation of God buying back the Israelites who whored after other gods. However, this was done by the grace of God through Jesus, not the restoration of the offenders. Likewise when you cheat on your spouse, they can do nothing but hope their spouse restores them.

Which version of the Bible are you using?? OT or NT?

Part of me wants to say that Christians beleive that stealing money is as much a sin as murdering your neighbor...

But common sense tells me that stealing is worse than cheating on your spouse, because women are worthless in the Bible....

As far as the actual sin goes they are both offensive to God,on a human level though cheating on your spouse is the most hurtful.

They are the same. Sin is sin- Of course we will all be judged according to our deeds, but both of those will keep you out of heaven, for not one is worse than the other.....one small lie will keep you out of heaven, that is why we all need forgiveness through Jesus Christ. But yes, we will all be judged separately, the non believers will be judged differently than the believers- for we who believe will not have a judgment under sin- we are set free from sin.

sin is sin
but now that we know that all is the same in gods eyes
what is worse in our eyes, the obvious answer is cheating.

It doesn't matter what sin is. Murdering someone and lying to your mom and dad have the same equallity. God sees every sin the the same exact way. They are bad. God doesn't care what it was, he cares that you sinned against his will. P.s. I would say that both of them are very bad. Don't try them at home.
