I consider hell to be a poor choice of a word to use in many instances, but not profane. I wouldn't use it in polite company.

I dont know if i necessarily consider it a profanity, however given the context that it is generally used in eg. "what the hell is the matter whith you", makes it a not so nice word. I wouldnt want to hear a kid say it, so in the end, i guess my vote if you are trying to settle a bet would be yes, i consider it a profanity...loosely.

The bible mentions a lot about Hell, is it profane? NO, If you tell someone to go there? YES. It is your intent of the word that makes it profane or not.

I would consider it a profanity if it were used as such. For example,
"Get the **** out of here."

If I were referring to the place of eternal damnation or a city in Michigan, then, it is a place and therefore, not a profanity.

yes, I would consider it a MILD profanity. Hell and Damn, to me are mild profanities.

No, and in general I am kind of tired of people who are offended by "curse" words. I think they they are more expletive than profane.

No. I say it sometimes. I don't remember ever getting in trouble wene i was in school for saying it. I let my little boy say it But, I don't allow him to say dam or ***, hell is ok for him to say. The other day he asked my husband, Where in the hell are my lego's daddy? We just started laughing.

hell no its not. i think it's rude to use it in a sentence directed toward someone, but not when used in such a phrase as "what the hell is that?" it probably wouldn't be a good choice to use it in ultra-conservative company.

It depends. Although "hell" is a lot less offensive than the "f" word is....
