About 1/5 of our troops will be in Iraq, not all of them. Russia could not attack us as they have a pathetic little air force, their Navy is weaker and their starving ground troops could not walk here.
China would never attack it's number 1 trading partner. And they also don't have either an air force or a navy.

Don't worry.
1. It takes years to stage an invasion. Our satellites got it covered.
2. Last time I checked, the russian military couldn't even pay the electricity bill.
3. The US has a lot of militias and overall high levels of gun ownership. No foreign nation would ever dare an invasion. Or if so, only at its own peril.
4. We have millions of people that we can call up on very short notice - on reserve.
5. Not so speak of nukes of all kinds and sizes.
So no - a draft is not needed.

This can not be a serious question. The Democrats keep asking for a draft (Rangle D-NY), but they are not serious. They are just tying to scare the stupid people. There will not be a draft. Just stay on top of the Democrats. We are not stretched too thin in the military. China and Russia??? Where do get this stuff?

Bush won't send all the armed forces to Iraq, and Russia doesn't have the $$ to invade. China's too busy to worry about us, and Congress knows that if they try to initiate another draft, they will be out of office. Besides, between the reserves and the NRA, do you really thing another country would dare challenge us?

there won't be a draft soon, and it's the coast guards job to guard the coast.
Russia and China wouldn't be stupid enough to attack us because attacking America is a logistical nightmare. All the hillbillies and residents would take to their pitchforks and shotguns and whatnot. They'd have to take over the ghettos with all the mafia and gangs. Not gonna happen.

There are one million Americans in the U.S. military. In addition, there are about 110,000 people in the inactive ready reserve. There will be 153,500 troops in Iraq after the increase of 21,500, IF it's approved by congress.
Get over the draft people!

Of course there will be a draft. Why else order 20,000 more troops when the generals advised against it. They just want the democrats to be in the position where they have to do it.

You're psyching yourself out for no reason. "All" our armed forces will not be concentrated in one solitary area. Our forces are all spread out stationed in allied nations such as Korea, Japan, western Europe.
I would like very much to see the draft started again but I don't think the populace would go for it.
