It's possible that the bird was born with a genetic neurological defect. It happens in all species from time to time. Euthanization may be the most humane thing to do. A difficult decision but sometimes must be done. I'm sorry for your worries. Use your good judgment and my thoughts are with you.

At 10 weeks old the bird is fully feathered? If you put the baby on its front does it flip over again? Have you inspected the baby to see if he is deformed? Is the legs set on right? Does the baby have feeling in its feet, can it grip with its feet? Was there any other babies in the nest? This does not sound right but strange that the parents are still feeding it. I would take the baby out the nest and look very carefully with regards to conformation and possible broken or damaged bones. I did previously have this problem (legs set wrong) with sun conures but the parents killed the baby in less than 2 weeks, so I am not really sure when the parents seem to think that the baby is viable.
For those above answers that dont seem to know, a baby bird is fed by his parents on his back in the begining.

Baby cockatiels shoudl never be turned upside down in a matter of fact any young bird. The food in the crop willflow into the lungs when tipped over and will eventually drown the bird! Flip it over on its legs! It is trying to struggle to get on its feet thats why he is kicking...you live that far that it would take WEEKS to get to a vet! What country do u live in???

Please take it out of the nesting box from the parents, fix a small box and make a round nest in it and try to get the baby to lay in it like it should. You can feed it yourself baby cereal through a syringe. I raised Cockatiels for years. If it has a problem with its legs it may be better off ____. Good Luck.

i think you should call a vet and ask for advice since you can't get to the vet for so long. as a pet owner it is your duty to do whatever you can for your pet. i would go to the vet anyway and see if they could just bill you for their services because what you are describing is not normal and you are allowing that bird to suffer. maybe you should reconsider raising birds if you are unable to get to a vet for such long periods of time.

I don't know, but this sounds hideous. Honestly you need to find a vet closer or something. A few weeks?? If it takes that long for you to get to a vet I would seriouusly reconsider having pets. I'm not trying to sound mean but I couldn't do that! :(

Have you tried turning him over? If he won't allow you to touch him, try taking a small perch, putting it near his feet, and allowing him to grasp onto it with his feet...then maneuver it so he can be turned over.
I'm honestly not sure if there is anything *wrong* with him - definitely get him to the vet as soon as you can.

I am not sure about the strokes or the vet cost but i know that you should call the vet if you truly want to help your bird. I know it is costly but im sure you will figure out a way to pay for it :]]] hope bobo gets better.
