Yes, and the person thinks everyone else is crazy...but this pour soul is so messed up inside, that he will probably go through life like this, and never get help...and end up in prison for his deeds, for not listening to the others that really care about him...very very sad,...

Above posters I have to disagree with....Borderline Personality Disorder and Bipolar depression are different things with different symptoms, and patterns.

I was diagnosed with BPD when I was 18. However, I'm starting to think that it's more of a transient diagnosis that doesn't have to stick to you for life - it just classifies a pattern of behaviour that you have at the time.
Antidepressants help with the impulsive behaviours, such as binge-eating, and self-harming.

Yes my partner was diagnosed with it 3 months ago, it has been a real struggle to get her the right treatment on the NHS though! It's only now we are starting to get somewhere, however she has not responded to any of the treatment or drugs so-far. To be honest I think it is so complex that most of the so-called specialists don't know exactly what to do either!! The specific treatment you should be asking for is dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) this is something that we have been pressing for quite sometime, this is the most succesful form of treatment for BPD along with pharmilogical treatments such as Anti-depressants and mood-stabilizers!! Any other questions e-mail me at jamiemcgeachie@yahoo.co.uk
