A friend of mine and I have been really good friends all year, and I definitely know he likes me, because he told whoever who told me, etc. Anyway, he was going to ask me out but found out I had a "boyfriend," (LONG STORY. It was an inside joke.) and that sort of scared him off. So I "broke up with him" and flirt with him, and he flirts back. How can I get him to ask me out?

I know I've already gotten a bunch of "Ask him out!" 's, and I really appreciate that. How could I do something without seeming weird? I'm pretty shy and this, and I don't want to make a complete fool out of myself. Thanks for answering! ;)

One of these moments you just lean over a wee bit closer to him and say something like, "if you don't ask me out one of these days, I'm gonna' start whining . . . it's not a pretty sight . . ." You can't drop a clearer hint than that! If you don't get the response you want in short order, then ask him yourself.
Haven't you heard the song with the line that says, "if I don't do it, I know somebody else will" ? You don't want to try to attract him if he's put his sights on someone else, right? Hurry!
Gird your loins and git out there. Good luck.

Just come out and tell him. Boys are pretty stupid so they won't get it right away if you just flirt with them. Tell him that you think he is a great guy and that you really like him. I told that to a guy a few months ago and he said that he was waiting on me to tell him cuz he was shy. Sadly, we broke up cuz he was moving to New York. But anyways, you should tell him how you feel or you will always wonder what could have been.

Yipers. I think if he knew you'd say yes he'd ask. (I would). I guess you'd start by making it obvious you're interested. idk, you could ask why he doesn't ask you out. Us guys, a lot of us, are afraid of rejection. On the other hand, I know one guy who'll ask any girl out. Chances are you aren't dealing with anybody like him, so you've gotta give him a good reason for thinking you'd say yes. Oh, here it is: have your girlfriends let it be known that you like him and you're always talking about wishing he'd ask you out, or some such similar plan in which they tell him you like him. That way he knows you'd go out with him without you having to TELL him. He gets told, but not by you. Just don't 'send' them. That makes you look weird. whatever happens, you didn't send them. They're just emissaries of fate.

Have one of female friends give him the news that you broke up with your boyfriend if he doesn't know you are available. Also when you are having one of this flirting secions let him know that you are single again, he should get the hint. If he doesn't ask you out he is an idiot.

Ask him to go see a movie. Then you can also add in dinner or ice cream afterwards. No need to feel like you have to confess some secret passion or anything -- just ask him to do something that you both like doing... that way you can go as "just friends" or it can become something more.

grrr, women and their games.
Don't whine about your problems here. Go ask him out yourself - it's allowed, ok?
EDIT:
Just ask him if he wants to catch a movie with you (if you already watch movies together, then think of something different that you normally don't do together).
Tell him you enjoy his company, spending time together...something like that.

Why don't you just ask him out!? It can be something simple like a movie or dessert.
