Basically normal, though your cat may be a little bit needier for company than most.

Contrary to common myth, the domestic cat is a highly social species. They and lions are the only felids that live in social groups in the wild. Some cats adapt to a solitary lifestyle, and a few actually seem to prefer it, but most cats need company, either feline or human, and preferably both.

My kitten did the same thing when I first got him. Everytime he was left alone, he would just cry and cry. He wouldn't do this if another one of my cats was with him... only if there was nobody at all.

He sounds lonely, mine does this too, but he has a friend. Is he fixed? He could be searching for mates.
