Diazepam is Valium. It is used in the treatment of anxiety, seizures, and to manage the symptoms of alcohol withdrawl. It is sometimes prescribed as a skeletal muscle relaxant, and is also used as a preoperative sedative before surgery. Someone prescribed Valium to take at home for anxiety, would recieve it in pill form. Someone presenting to an ER with seizures, or a person having surgery, would recieve injectable Valium via IV or an injection.

The correct spelling is diazepam. It is the generic for Valium. It is used as a muscle relaxant, for anti anxiety, and as an anesthetic. It is a habit forming drug and can lead to dependency, addiction, and even death. I know that for a fact. My wife was prescribed increasing quantities of diazepam and Oxycontin to alleviate lower back pain and chronic pancreatitus. She died from accidental overdose from the combination of the two. The coronor stated the official cause of death as accidental mixed drug intoxication. If you must use this drug, work closely with your doctor and carefully follow his instructions.
