Absolutely and also, because they have to go it alone, just as when they were born.

I'm not afraid of dying, because I know where I'm going.
What I fear is the pain before dying.
I was in a serious car accident 5 years ago, and as I looked out my windshield and saw an 18 wheeler headed straight for me at 70 miles per hour, I thought "I'm going to die."
I felt so peaceful. There was nothing I could do. I just sat there and waited.
But, the truck ran over my engine, and I survived. But, while I was sitting there, before paramedics came, I became terrified that the car would catch on fire and I would burn to death.
So, no, I'm not afraid to die. Just dying.

All people are not afraid of dying, that is one single thing we are all going to do sooner or later.
Fear of the unknown is probably one reason.
Be well !

That's probably the biggest reason. Even believers might have some fear if they believe they are about to be judged. It's scary to leave everything you've ever known and all the people you love behind.

There are things that people KNOW in their hearts about what happens after death in this world. All nations and tribes know it and have spoken of it to one another.
It is these known things that they fear.

I know I am not afraid of death- for I know I am saved and redeemed by the blood of Christ Jesus. But many out there who do not know the Lord, are afraid of death- they have to be! To not know the salvation through Jesus Christ, and how it can save them from hell. I would be afraid if I did not have Jesus....but I look forward to meeting my Savior face to face! ( not meaning I look forward to dying, but that I am not afraid to die)

I think a lot of people are uncomfortable with the idea of everything coming to an absolute end at death.

I believe so yes. I think if we weren't afraid, suicide rates would be much higher. I think it's ingrained in humanity to be afraid.

Man and woman were designed to live forever. Death is a punishment for the sins of Adam. I don't like to be punished.
