My family and the people I love. Read some Maslov (nothing to do with religion, lol), it might help you to understand yourself and your questions more clearly.

First, think: Why wouldn't I want life? Even assuming that there is no afterlife. Why not? Have you thought of non-existence? We have this life, whether not a God created it and whether or not we can figure it out but it's way more interesting then non-existence. Personally, I feel like our ability to make our own choices and find out who we are is facinating. Life without suffering and ambiguity is boring and would make our decisions meaningless because our own suffering makes us question reality and also makes us compassionate to others and our lack of complete knowledge allows us to have faith which gives rise to passion which leads to self expression which is so beautiful. What is the point of life? To enjoy it with the others around you. Why were you put here? Because it's better than the alternative. Is there a God? I believe God exists and died for us so that life could be enjoyed in a relationship with Him watching you become who you are and you striving to become who you are through glorifying Him. Why were humans put here? To live amongst one another in love. The question of "why life?" is always bothersome but, in reality, having the gift of this ambiguous life is way more interesting and I would personally choose suffering instead of non-existing. Non-existence has no hope.

The point to life is different for everyone. You cannot look at life en masse and figure out what the point is. Every individual is here for different reasons, to learn different lessons, and travel farther on their path. Don't worry about "Is there a god" and "Why were humans put here". Focus on what the point of YOUR life is and why you are here. You are here for a reason. There is something you are meant to learn. Seek it out. Be active in doing so. I know it's hard when you're depressed - two of my closest friends struggled for years with depression and have only recently turned the corner - but I hope you're getting help for it, as it's a serious medical condition that must be treated before you can find what your life is meant to be.
Bright blessings.

I watch loads of comedy on TV and it really lifts me.
I got told that I was going to be evicted the other day (best place I've ever lived, I've been here 7 years and I was mortified.) Within half-an-hour I was laughing my head off at Father Ted. Laughter is the human spirit at its highest level and it can help you through almost anything.
Conversely watching too much bleak TV has a negative effect.
There is nothing wrong with philosophy, but think of it more as good mental exercise, rather than a way to solve the problems in your life and the world.

There was a time in my life when I felt just like that...purposeless. That was until that fateful day when my life changed forever...it was the day when my heart was shred to bits and I realised how sinful I was as a person...It was the day that I met with Jesus Christ who took my sins away by dying on the cross for me....it was the day I repented from my sins...accepted Him as my Lord and Saviour and put my trust in Him and my life has never ever been the same. He will do the very same for you...only believe and put your trust in Him. The bible says that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life. Dont wait any longer...call out to Him right now...confess your sins before Him...and accept that He died on the cross for you so that you could be saved. (John 3:16)

You should be able to live a good life without knowing all the answers. Honest people don't pretend to know everything.
If you were lost in a jungle, when you were a baby, without any input from others, you would not think that some Jesus had anything to do with your life, nor would you expect to "burn" in some place called "Hell" because of your thoughts. You would not be tormented by some self-inflicted guilt complex.

Read Ecclesiates in the Bible. That guy had the same problem. He tried women, money, wealth, power, work, wisdom- all not bad in and of themselves but they aren't the point and he came away disillusioned. The conclusion? Fear God and obey his commandments. He's the one who gave us all these good things but they're not the be all and and all- he is.
By the way, my friend's also wondering what the point is to life so I can empathise with you a bit- you're not the only one.

The point of life is the search for truth and thereby make the journey back to your original home. There is a true path, but you must give up your external search to find it. There is a true doctrine, but you must close the outer books of scripture to read it. There truly is a transcendental guide, but you must forfeit your own mental counsel to find Him. And there is a true *Self* deep within your beingness, but the small self must make way for the big Self within you. There is a secret Path leading to this door and, although it is enshrouded in mystery, it opens up to the truly sincere and lovers of truth and God. All Saints in the past, present, and future know of this secret passageway, that indelibly connects the soul to its Creator. All humans are not ready for this, but some are.
If you could find a Master/Saint, He could easily open your secret door, and all spiritual complexities and mysteries would vanish into nothingness. This is not my promise, but is the Creator’s promise.

Reason for our existence
A person cannot deny the Lord and still live successfully. Mankind was created to acknowledge God and share a relationship with Him. When someone chooses to ignore the truth of His existence or His sovereignty, he or she begins a downward slide. It's a choice which ends with a hardened heart and eternal separation from a loving Father.
God gives everyone the capacity to understand Him and the free will to choose whether to pursue that knowledge. The truth of His existence is revealed in nature and written into every person's conscience. However, many people ignore reality because it interferes with their preferred lifestyle. Instead, they chase false philosophies, which are usually mixed with just enough truth to make them believable to the inexperienced.
Any "truth" crafted by man is foolishness. A mind that has rejected the fact of a sovereign Lord cannot see its error. It has slipped from intelligence--an inherent knowledge of God--to willful ignorance. In this state, even when all evidence points to the truth, a person can still convince him- or herself that the opposite is right.
All the denial and atheistic arguments in the world will not change what is real. Jehovah is God. Jesus Christ is His Son. God created you to love, obey, and honor Him. If you resist the truth, you choose a life of darkness and willful ignorance. The choice is yours to make.
God invites you to see if He is better than all that the world has to offer. Psalm 34:8 challenges us to "taste and see that the Lord is good." Will you taste and see?

There is a God and you were put here to get to know Him. All humans exist to live in relationship with one another and with God. That is the point of life. It isn't easy or instantaneous but I can guarantee that if you call out to God and ask Him to make himself real to you he will, maybe not that very second but soon and definitely. Don't set up silly little tests, like "If God is real the phone will ring in the next 5 seconds"...be honest with yourself and with God.
Live in such a way as to put the "human" back in being.

The point is to learn and advance. If you don't advance and you don't learn then you will keep repeating the same cycle over and over. You are here for more reasons then you can ever know. You effect everything you come in contact with. The person at the store you don't know if you were nice to her then she might have smiled then the person after you would see this an so on. Don't try to make it more complicated then it is. Life is very simple
