I encountered two mormons hanging out in my apartment lobby yesterday and it made me think: what is the best to deal with various missionaries when you are simply not interested?

Whatever you do, don't make eye contact. If you do make eye contact, "I'm late for an appointment/expecting a phone call/left the oven on," is a good way to initially break that contact, then if they want to stop by later, say, "I'm not interested, thanks" as you hurry from the lobby.
I'd like to know how to politely hang up the phone when I answer expecting it's my boyfriend and get a right-wing lecturer instead on the evils of Hollywood and television today.

Fortunately the only dealings i have with them is on here, and the good thing is one click of the mouse and i can escape them. Wouldn't like them at work, or if they were i would expect them to keep their beliefs to themselves.

Tell them their LDS church is a non-Christian cult, that teaches dogma that contradicts the Word of God.

just tell them you're not interested but try to do it in a nice manner, if they still won't leave you alone you may have to get a little more firm with them

Just tell them "no, thank you I am not interested in that religious persuasion." That is quite simple to say.

Tell them you are not interested, be firm but polite. There is no need for rudeness, they think they are helping you.

I just tell them that I am Happily Catholic and thank them for stopping by and then tell them that I am not interested.
If that does not work, I close the door.
