Imagine a small being that can split itself in two every minute...if I put two of these beings in a jar it will fill up in one hour...how long would it take for the jar to fill if I put in just one of them?

Just one minute more. If you start with one, its only a minute before you have two. Since it only took two beings an hour to fill the jar, you just add the time to create two to the time it takes to go from two to a full jar.

61 minutes, or 1 hour, 1 minute

After two minutes, you would be back to having two in the jar, and then that would be an hour.

So it is an hour plus the two minutes

hour and 2 minutes.
