Not sure I understand the question. The dvx100 will record & play back mini dv tapes.

Nope. The HD ugprade of this, the HVX200 records SD to miniDV but only records HD in DVCPRO format, but on P2 cards, not tapes. So basically, it has two recording options. So the closest it can come is RECORDING dvcpro footage (not dvcam). The dvx100b only records in SD onto miniDV. So I'm not sure if this answers your question or not, but I hope it helped somewhat.
