Because all decent and moderate Muslims are sickened by the face of militant Islam and the hate-filled 'holy war' agenda.
I think this has caused many of them to really investigate Islam in a way they would not have done previously. When they do this they realise that those who carry out atrocities are actually closer to the original Islam than the softer image which they as decent Muslims are struggling to maintain. They cannot change the history and origins of Islam, so there is no cure for the problem.

That Islamic terrorism is the primary cause was confirmed in a report in the Russian publication ‘Otogi Weekly’ November 1st 2005:-
‘as a result of what happened in Beslan, the proportion of Muslims in North Ossetia has decreased at least by 30%, while in Beslan itself, where Muslims had comprised from 30 to 40% of the population, their number has decreased at least by half’

‘As even Muslim sources confirm, after each terrorist action, thousands and may be even dozens of thousands of ethnic Muslims adopt baptism.’

Like any religion there are people who leave and people who join. If more people leave then join then it shrinks, if more join than leave then it is a growing religion. Try this at home put 5 balls in a pot now add 3 more balls then take two out, how many are left 6 right. So we would say that the number of balls in the pot is increasing.

I think that there are more people coming to Islam than leaving it. But I am sure that there are also a good number of ex-muslims. Doesn't matter. Everyone has the right to believe in whatever they want. If they leave, that is sad. But I feel better knowing they will be happier.

Peace from a muslim brother.

If the world is to unanimously accept the Muslim community they will just about have to in order to remove that label.Nowadays, the term together Islam/Muslim is steadily becoming a bad mix.The radicals are doing exactly what I thought they would do.Single handily destroy Islam.

My sister was introduced to islam. She read the Quran twice through before deciding that it was not worth her time. Apparently many thinking people have tested it and found it lacking.

simply because the have seen the danger of Islam, its lies and wrong teaching, its violation of human rights.
These people are brave enough to speak up and don't close their eyes against the poor life of their fellow Muslims.
