I was learning to drive and had got to a pretty good standard, just needed to master manouvers, bay parking etc. Then one of my family was killed in a car accident in september so i lost all my confidence and havent driven since then. I now need to start learning again as i need to have passed my test by this september. Do I just pay for an intensive course and get on with it or should I stay with my original instructor who can only manage about 2 lessons a week?

if i was you i would stick with the instructor. you have a long time to pass ypur test and if you lack confidence is it a bad idea to go on an intensive course straight away.
2 lessons a week is more than enough to get your test passed by, probably march... just take it steady and build up your confidence

Sorry to hear about the death of the family member.
That should not stop you from continuing your driver education and being a good driver!
You probably need a few extra hours as a refresher to be able to test for your license. Best bet is to try and stay with your original instructor. After you've had a refresher from him or her, spend some time driving with your mother or father in the car with you.
If you are still not sure, try contacting AAA (the Automobile Club). They have some terrific driver's ed courses.
Whatever you do, don't stop. If we all stopped doing what we needed because of a tragic circumstance, none of us would be doing much at all.

HI , sorry to hear of your sad new`s ,
I passed my driving test with a company called fast pass i went away for the 2 day`s to Blackpool i had 6 hours lesson`s on Thursday and 4 hours lesson`s on Friday then had my test on Friday afternoon ( i passed ) the cost was only £250 including the b & b & evening meal , and the test fee !
However you need to have already passed your theory test , or there is a 4 day course ( for total beginner`s ) for £500 including the test fee & b & b .

I'd say go for the intensive whilst you have the desire to get on with it. I did this and found the continous practise so much easier than doing a couple of hours a week where the first 20 minutes of each lesson was spent trying to remember what i'd already learnt.

I am sorry for your loss but stay with your instructor and try to practise by your own a bit. the best way when you do it by yourself. Scary at first but you will be there. And because of your experience you will be a very careful driver.

I don't think anyone really learns to drive until they are on the road alone and can get a lot of experience. That would be after you have a license. So just take the quickest route to get the license, the sooner you get it the sooner you will really learn how to drive.
