It probably depends on your location as to the court's exact meaning, and administration, of an "alcohol screening test."
But my best guess is that it is an evaluation by a "counselor", social worker, or other anti-alcohol nazi, where they ask you a bunch of questions to determine if you are an alcoholic or not. If they arbitrarily determine you are an alkie, they will recommend to the court that you attend a treatment program.
It's just another way for the man to stick it to you for making a mistake. They got your number and it will cost & cost to make it stop hurting.
Keep in mind that by a clinical standard almost every occassional/social drinker will be classified as an alcoholic. Otherwise they wouldn't get more of your money to pay for "treatment".
Basically if you admit to drinking on a weekly basis, they will slam you with the "alcoholic" label. And if you say you never drink, they will classify you as a liar. Pick a number in between.
Good luck and I wish you the best until this is over for you.

I am not sure what state you live in, but I am guessing you are under 21 years old. My suggestion is to go down to the courthouse and ask what it is. It is no secret, they should have asked you if you understand what it is. If you have had your drivers license revoked, don't drive. They have recently decided to see how people with revoked licenses get from the courthouse. One other item, don't go if you have had any booze that day, they might pop a quick test on you. Be prepared.
My guess is that they may reserve the right to call you in for an alcohol test and that you must respond in person within a few hours. Corporations do this and the time span is 1 hour, failure to report means immediate dismissal.

I think you mean", An Alcohol Evaluation". It is a "test-like" answer session. A good-one should take about 2 hours. And yes, you will have to probably supply a "Urine-sample", on the spot,{so to speak}. The questions are anything from childhood-on...etc...Questions like ; How many nights a week do you drink? & How many do you have, And do you drink alone. Do you usually drive drunk? Things like that. They ask alot of questions, so be prepared.

Yep - going for one this evening actually. You get to do either of the 2 in RI - (1) pee in a cup (I get the pleasure of doing that tonight) or (2) taking a breathalizer test which is a tube you blow in and it reads the alcohol level on your breath.
I recommend that if you have the urine test that you do not drink any alcohol 24 hours prior to the test. I don't have to do the breathalizer test - but assume the same for that test as well.
Good luck and be good kiddo!

It's kinda like a psychological evaluation I guess you could say. You meet with a counselor complete a series of questions and from your answers they will make the determination of whether you have an alcohol problem and recommend the appropriate action.

You provide a sample of urine and it is dip tested with a lab stick to see what the alcohol levels are in your system, its painless and done by the same gender as you so your dignity is intact, this is the uk but it must be the same in the US.

Never been convicted at all, but know what your going to do...It will most likely be urinalysis, (pee in a cup) unless the probation officer smells it on your breath.
