Friend of mine got raped and infected with Herpes virus, she would have to use condoms not to give infection to her husband if she gets married. Is this okay if they use it (following natural cycle ) on days when she would not get pregnant anyway? If not, what if they cut a tip of condom what would allow sperm for easy exit, this way there is no "blockage" and the skin of the penis is protected what greatly lower the risk of infection. Purposely broken condom would not be protect from pregnancy anymore (obviously) .

That is an excellent idea, and morally acceptable within Catholic teaching. Perforated condoms are also used by Catholic couples to obtain semen samples for testing purposes.

The Catholic view on contraceptive is nothing more than human control over others masked by religion. In her case, I'd say she should use a standard condom. Even with the tip cut off it could still spread. Plus, if being die-hard to the faith is an issue, tell her to not think of it as a contraceptive but as a medical preventive to not transmit the herpes virus to her husband.

By the way, I really empathize with her attack and I hope the police nailed the sob!

I think most other people cover this, as it is not what "God" intended. Oddly enough, cars, computers, tvs, and a lot of other stuff don't grow on trees. So I am kind of confused why we can make those and not contraceptives. I just want to disprove the main innacuracy with the little tag along that "most" contraceptives are abortifacients. "Most" are not. Condoms, (both male and female) intruterine devices, spermicides, certain medications (both oral, patch, and implants) prevent the egg from being fertilized. They are probably referring to that most as the morning after pill (which is one of two pills that I know of that may cause an abortion). However, the scientific research of the morning after pill by the FDA states that the action is most likely pre-fertilization. Meaning that it is very likely that the medication is not an abortifacient. However, there is still some data that shows that it may cause an abortion (if taken within the first few days after sex). But most of the data supports pre-fertilization action.

The church is usually against contraceptive because it's killing a life thing, but since she is infected with herpes, she does need to take the necessary precautions. I'm sure if she uses the pills on days she isn't ovulating it should be okay, or she can speak w/ her priest to see if they would've any other suggestions.

The Catholic Church's position on sexual matters is criminally stupid -- people die because of it. Anyone with the sense of a goat will use whatever protections are necessary and appropriate. Even most practicing Catholics consider the Church's position as too silly to be worthy of note.

Actually the Vatican has recently decided to "study" that issue, but only for HIV. Your friend and her future husband are out of luck, because sexual safety is a sin.

Here's the best quote from the article: "'We are conducting a very profound scientific, technical and moral study' on how to deal with married couples when one is infected with HIV, [The Pope] told Vatican Radio.'"

Scientific? Really? That's already been done, Mr. Pope, and science has proven that the Church's position on AIDS prevention costs lives.

That is a deep question, my sympathies to her.

I would take the question to a Priest, or maybe several.

Good Luck!

You might also try reading the Catechism of the Catholic Church, there are many answers in there!

Peace!

There is another option. Zyprexa (use only as directed, see a doctor). It will treat your friends schizoid delusional mental disorder. Like that she will drop religion altogether and she will be able to have a normal protected sex life.
