Hi,My name is Chris, and i am currently a senior in college. I have recently met with an Army recruiter, concerning a position in the US Army as a officer. He told me with my college degree, i would most likely be qualified to attend the OCS in Georgia.
Please help me out in these fields.

1. What is the required college GPA to be accepted into Army OCS.

2. How hard is it to get a 110 GT score on the ASVAB.

3. When can i bring my wife with me? after BTC, OTC etc..

4. Will I (if i become an officer) most likely end up in Iraq? and if so, for how long?

5. Does officer have better chance of picking their dream sheet -AKA- Based station?

I would greatly appreciate any help regarding the above issues..Thank you,Chris

OCS requires a 2.0 GPA but the higher the better chances of selection. It is not hard at all; with 4 years of college you will have no problem. The ASVAB contains question on basic education and mechanics. It depends on what branch you go into if your wife can move with you during your training. If you choose Infantry you will be able to bring your wife with you to Fort Benning GA the day you go because OCS and Infantry basic course is at Benning and the training is longer than 6 months (any thing less than 6 months your wife can’t go with you). If you choose a different branch your wife will be able to move with you for your basic course as long as it is longer than 6 months. All most all soldiers will serve in Iraq, but there is a way around this. Try and get to South Korea, deployments are very very rare, only one unit got deployed to Iraq from Korea and that was because they were relocating back to the states. Korea is a 3 year tour if you bring your family if not only a one year tour. I have been stationed in Korea and it is a good assignment. The other way to avoid Iraq is to get assigned to a training unit known as TRADOC, this will be hard to get right out of OCS. Iraq deployments range from 4 months to a year and if you make a career out of the army you will be deployed. Officers do have a better chance of getting the assignment they want but only if there is a slot for your rank/branch at that location. The Army is a good choice but can be tough on the family; I have been married for 8 of the ten years I have been in the Army. You must have a strong marriage or you will not make it in the married life

Ok as far a GPA as long as you graduated would be fine a 110 GT is not easy but you don't have to be a brain surgeon either just a fairly intelligent person. Bringing your wife will be determined on schooling general rule for the Army is anything 6 months and over you can take them but it all depends. Yes you will end up in IRAQ No rank or job is safe but don't be scared of that I wish I could tell people my personal exspierence . No you have equal chances at picking an duty station. There are ways to work this but its not about rank its about knowing how to work things in your favor about knowing when to call your Branch manager. Chris good luck and if its Iraq that bothers you take it from me please as long as you have a loving supportive wife and family and she is mentally prepared to see you go and support you no matter what then everything else will fall into place. I have lived the army all my life and I was a soldier for 5 yrs and I am married to one for the last 9yrs a great soldier has a great support channel. Good luck
