I have this body lotion that I haven't used for a long time. It smells good and I like it, but, I'm afraid to use it since I've had it for over a year and a half and haven't used it. Does lotion expire? If I use it will I damage my skin?

Usually an experation date on the cosmetic products 2 years. I try don't use products after that.
The reason for this is some of the ingredients will separate from the emulsion and can cause an allergic reaction or the product will loose they properties.
In your case if it's just a body lotion and it was in the closed bottle for a year an a half and hopefully it's a good brand, I don't think you will have any problems to use it on your body, no face or neck, since skin on your face and neck is very different and gentle.

I hope this will help.

Unless it has dry "chunks" in it, then it's fine. It takes YEARS for lotion to expire. Notice there is no expiration date?
