I would hate to get one or the other and feel as i should of got the other , also what is the sizeing in the " 's as well cause I see 18" 19" 20 " frames and have no idea what that is .

It depends on what kind of riding you will be doing. I am 5'11" and my crosscountry bike is a full suspension Janis 17" frame. I have a downhill bike that is a full suspension, 8 " of travel, and is a 15" frame, and i have a Santa Cruz all round, and downhill on easy courses, that is a 13". Like i said, it is all in what kind of riding you will be doing and what you are comfortable on.

Go to a local bike shop and be sized for a bike. There is a lot more to it than just buying a bike. When you do buy the bike, have it fitted for you. You may pay an extra $75, but the bike will be more fun to ride, and less work.

fit is less important on a mtn.bike then a road bike. your stand over clearance from the cross bar to your crotch should be 3-4 inches in your case a 17 or 18 inch frame will work. as for med. & large you should try both to see which feels best to you, the only way to be sure is to test ride as many variations as you can.

Even though you are 5'8" the most important measurement its your insteam. However based on experience a 17" or 18" will work fine for you.
