1. unscrew mag tube extension & remove.
2. remove mag. spring and slide barrel off. Forearm will need to be slightly forward to make room for barrel to slide foreward.
3. If you have standard stock push the two trigger housing pins out and carefully remove trigger group down and back out of the frame.
4. slide forearm all the way forward and to remove it you will need to push in on the shell latchs one side and then the other. this will allow the forearm to finish sliding forward and out. the bolt and cam will come out with the action bar.(forearm)

The reciever is now open and can be cleaned. The bolt assy. should not be take apart. Clean as it is.

reverse the steps to put back together.

good luck

How To Disassemble A Remington 870

1st if it is an express you will have to remove the dimples to get it to function properly ( unless remington has started making some kind of home defense type express, which I haven't seen). With the extended tube, you:
1. Make sure the gun is unloaded. (check the chamber too)
2. Open the action
3. unscrew the extended tube and remove the spring (with an extended mag, you do not keep the spring plug in the tube, which is that cheap plastic piece that you remove with a screwdriver)
4. the barrel is then lifted up and out of the action.
Routine clenaing can be done from this point.

If the express comes with a 7-8-shot tube then what you most likely have to do is still uncrew the tube at the point where it joins with the barrel, which will be a couple of inches in front of the pump.
Good luck!

how far you want it to go down? unloaded.
unscrew mag tub cap. open bolt half way pull barrel.
use a spreader tool to get the mag spring retention c clip out. careful keep your had over the tube or it will shoot out. slowly pull the spring...invert gun the mag plug follower will slid out
now take an ink pin or a plastic jag and tap out the pin in the receiver behind the bolt. pull on the trigger guard to remove the assembly. the two bars on each side of the receiver will drop out pay attention to where they sit. slide the forearm forward with the gun upside down the bolt block will unhook from the slide arms and let the forearm come completly our now your can get the bolt and the bolt block follower out of the magazine
clean it put it back in reverse order
