I will walk in the door and ask "How are things going". I do not really want to know but it usaly distracts her long enough for me to the TV before she remembers all the things she has been saving up all day to tell me.

What about you?

You sound like a jerk. Why did you get married if you don't care about her day... It is in the nature of a person who LOVES their spouse to want to know things. When my hubby walks through the door, I usually say Hi honey, how was YOUR day. He usually goes on and on for a while... then I leave him alone for a little while. (I have 5 brothers so I know how men work.) After he has an hour or so to himself, he (almost) always comes to me and asks about my day. i understand because of my brothers and i know how much i enjoy being left alone for a little while. Now if your case is, you want to know, but just not as soon as you walk in the door, you need to find a delilcate way to tell her this. Noone likes being bombarded with stuff as soon as they come home from work. You need to be very delicate and let her know to give you some alone time for an hour or so.

When you walk in the door, are these "things she has been saving up all day to tell" you venting and complaining? If so, you might want to try to greet her with a smile, a kiss, a bouquet, an invitation to dinner, something nice to bring a smile to her face along with some genuine and not feigned interest in her day. It could be that the fault is not hers, but that you have an attitude of indifference to her and she is reacting to it.

We actually have a conversation when we both get home... its nice to know he's standing there listening (or at lease acting like it) and not heading straight for the TV... we usually watch a little TV together and then I do my own thing and he plays his video games... but at least we started the evening off right.

I just say "Hi honey, you're home" when he walks in. Then I let him vent about work a bit and leave him alone to check his email and look at the mail and the paper. There's a little chit-chat, but I know he needs to decompress before we go about our normal evening routine.

When he walks in I usually yell out 'WHAT UP DAWG!" or some other slang greeting that sounds weird coming from me and give him a big kiss. It ALWAYS cracks him up so even if he's had a crappy day he can at least start to relax when he gets home.

I will say "Hi! How was your day? I have the grocery list ready, let's talk about it in the car!" We've been visiting family for the past two weeks and have absolutely no food!

It goes like this everytime, I say "hey baby, how are you?" and he says "better now that I get to hold you." We take a minute for a good hug and a lingering kiss and then we start making dinner and discussing my crappy boss and his crappy employee (one in particular). It works very well for us....I can't wait to get home to him tonight....only 2 hours to go.

Hey sweetie. How was your day? (This after I have peeled a 20 month old cutie pie off me.) BTW - I am the one coming home from work.

I'll say "hey woman what's for dinner?" (jokingly)

I do sympathize with the ladies who have their husbands overseas right now. I was in Iraq a couple years ago. They'll be back before you know it.
