i know that guitars can be broken down into its major parts and the main obsticle you will have for the carry on is over head space. i think if you get a bag that fits the size requirements for the plane and package the guitar in its peices inside it carefluuy, you should have no problem caring it on the plane in that regards. the safe way would be to get it shipped and insured so you wont have to worry about the metal detector going off or delays in the line. Once your bag is checked you can have it on the plane as long as it fits and its your only bag.

You can bring an electric guitar, but not an amplifier, on a commercial jet.
The magnets in the amplifier can cause interference with the avionics.

Probably NOT. The airports are very strict on hand baggage and I don't see a guitar fitting in the size guide. You cold package it and travel with it as checked baggage, but check the airlines policy on fragile items and your insurance.

You need to review the carry on luggage policy of your airline. In general, if the item will not fit in the overhead bin, you will have to check it. As the limit on the loss of checked luggage is about 1,200, you might want to ship it insured on a private carrier in protective packaging.

if I was you I would ship it home separately and insure it,any thing can happen while in transit.don't take the chance of an accidental break. plus if it wont fit in the carry on, no you wont be able to bring it on the airplane,,don't gamble on the idea of the coat closet

I flew with one from Idaho to Alaska last fall as a carry-on. I know people who have traveled internationally with them. Have the flight attendant put it into the coat closet.
