Its not illegal for a 17 and 18 year old to be together. Only if the one person under 16 is it illegal, or if there is a 3 year difference of age. For example a 16 year old can not have sex with a 20 year old. 16 is the age of consent in this state.

I don't think an 18 year old dating a 17 year old is illegal. I think for some of those laws, they have an age requirement like if there age is less than 2 years apart, its legal. Otherwise, it would be rediculous if I was like 10 days older but I was 18 and she was 17 for it to be illegal.

First off, it's not illegal for anyone to "date" anyone -- it becomes illegal when sex is involved.
Second, in most states (in the US) there is an allowable difference in ages (usually 2-3 years, sometimes more) that makes it legal to have sex with someone under the "age of consent". So for example, if you are 19 and sleeping with a 16 year old it is not illegal, but if you're 20 it is.

Different scenario pal! If a guy is 35 dating a 12 year old, hes a child molester! A 18 yo dating a 17 yo is statutory rape!

when a 17 year old have sex with a 18 year old, 18 year old will not get arrested for it. since their ages are close...also when they go to court and judges decide that not only their actual ages but their mental ages are close, it will be okay too.
