I think that, whether or not you agree with the start of the war, the reality is that the US is there now. Pulling out will only leave a perfectly good country for terrorists to inhabit and control...along with the oil. So what to do? Finish what was started...and if that means more troops, so be it. I realize they are people...with families. But they signed up for a career in the military, and thats what soldiers do...they go to war when required.

Perhaps, in future, young men and women will reconsider enlisting in exchange for a good education. Maybe the country will tell the politicians to go to hell - let THEM fight the wars they start. But for now, it is important that the job be finished...at whatever cost. Because the alternative - having terrorists occupy Iraq and control such a rich oil source - is completely unacceptable. It was one thing for them to come in and bomb the Twin Towers...how would Americans feel if they controlled their largest source of oil?

Often I think its important to break things down into components people understand and relate to...pulling out of Iraq means you will no longer be able to drive your SUVs. Are you understanding now????

I think you should be asking, "How long does the Bush administration expect to leave the additional troops in Iraq?"

Watch them be there for another 3 years. Only to be supplemented by an additional "surplus" of American troops.

I would say no (for their own safety) but I think it will quicken the end of the conflict and hopefully ensure the safety of the other coalition forces already there.

Yes, but not by 20,000. I think 2,000 would be fine, but I don't agree otherwise.
