at times i find when one expresses kindness to another, a kind gesture or act is not returned or reciprocated.

my question: is there a time when being unkind is valid?

I think it's always a good idea to try and be a GOOD person. I think the problem occurs when other people are taking advantage of you because you are nice. In this case, you can stand your ground and tell them how you feel without being mean. It's not unkind, it's truthful. You don't want to be a doormat, and you can say that without being a bi tch.

Women say they want nice guys but they really are attracted to bad boys. Then they complain about it once they get treated like dirt.

So yeah, if you're going to date a jerk you may as well treat him like one.
