I have studied egyptology for over a decade and the symbolism it contains. Yes, you could use the eye of horus or the famous ankh symbol. Each one has its own symbolism, but whether or not it applies to you is your decision. You should research egyptian symbolism and find one you like that holds symbolism pertaining to your person. I, personally, chose the Khepher, which is the scarab beetle; its symbolism is similar to a pheonix rising from the ashes and means rebirth and survivor. However, i didn't like the actual picture of the beetle and instead chose the cursive form of the hieroglyphic. Hieroglyphics are the pictures used as letters in the written egyptian language. Hieratic, the cursive form of hieroglyphics, is what I had my tattoo done in. It is more of a ancient brush script and can be very beautiful. Since many people don't know about it, it is also rare and original. My best friend had me draw out two words in heiratic for her and she now has them as tattoos. She and so far all those who have seen her tattoos really liked it. It can look graceful for a women, but also holds strong masculinity to be used for a man. Chinese script is commonly used today and heiratic is different but similar in the brush script aspect. If you would like to see what I am speaking of, a good site is http://home.prcn.org/sfryer/Hieratic/lesson1.html ... It gives you the hieratic alphabet and lesson 4 tells you how to combine the letters and make a pretty brush script word by yourself. Hope this helps and allow yourself to be creative; the script is versatile and easily manipulated to fit what you are looking for.

I have an ankh it means "eternal life". It's pretty much a cross but the top has a loop. Otherwise just do an image search for Ancient Egyptian symbols, it should bring up more ideas.

Sorry yet it is something you ought to examine and ascertain for your self.

i thought about getting an egyptian tattoo when i was in high school but ultimately i decided against it because i'm not egyptian. they may look neat and be intrigueing but it just seems silly to me to get something from a culture that you are not a part of.

I agree that ankh is a good symbol as well as seba, the flower of life, maat, sa, and sesen (a lotus flower).
