Forget short, you need a good book that will keep you interested.
Navajo Code Talkers is a great book. Angels and Demons will keep you hooked until the end. Happy Reading!!:)
I think Holes is too immature for a sophmore. The Giver is done in Junior High where I live.

1984 is a good book.
But I also liked The Outsiders. There is actually a movie that is similar to the book also. It's about highschools involved in clicks like the socias and the greasers. It's good for guys and girls. And it will keep you wanting to read more.

If you haven't read it already, I'd recommend To Kill A Mockingbird.
I'm not certain how many pages are in it, but I finished it in one sitting, so it can't be that long. It's also a really good story, and one that adults in your future life will refer to and assume you have read it, so you might as well get it out of the way, so to speak.
