really it's just best to leaving things alone down there when the shedding process is going on.. mostly due to contamination.. discomfort and pressure. the shedded blood could back up into the uterus and the materials could get inside the urethra of a male.. too much risk in so many ways that are possible along with the typical discomfort. many females feel discomfort during the cycle.. alot is going on when the period is happening.
it's only a few short days.. they can wait.
really, i mean it's not that long of a period. it's best to leave the organs do their job and not be tormented with any activity, mild or moderate..

I personally think it is gross too. The question is, does your boyfriend think it is? If he is okay with it, then it falls back on you and how you feel. after all, it is only a little blood that can be washed off. Do it in the shower, maybe? I couldn't myself, and besides if you have been together for 3 years, sex isn't what should be a problem anyway. There will be plenty of time in a few days.

i'm a christian and the bible says is wrong to have sex whilst a woman has her period, it's dirty. well, you shouldn't be having sex in the first place since you're not married, but that's another issue.
i think you shouldn't cos it just sounds disgusting, imagine the blood coming out of you and your boyfriend slipping inside you, must be very lovely... (sarcasm).
besides there are other things you can do with him apart from intercourse. i'm sure you two can wait a little bit and create yourselves a special moment in a week time after your period is over.
anyways, happy anniversary :) it's my 2 years anniversary soon.

If I were you, I'd rather do something else different, interesting, and creative to make it memorable. You don't want you guys to be remembering a great day like your 3rd anniversary with gross memories of having "your period material" all over you.
I would do something else ~ maybe go out, have a romantic dinner, watch a movie, get drunk, or even go to a strip-club together :-)

don't do anything your not comfortable with i mean sex isn't any fun unless both people are enjoying it. if it feels different and you obsess over it you won't enjoy it. i'd say give it a shot but keep in mind you can always make it up to him with a BJ or something of that nature then just catch up on the sex part when you feel better.

You should never do anything you find uncomfortable especiallly if it has to do with sex. I have had girlriends in my past who got very horny during their period. I am not all together why that was, but intercourse was out of the question. Most of them, if they were out of comission, were more than pleased to go down on me. Your feelings and your body belong to you and consideration must be given without question.

I DON'T THINK IT'S DISGUSTING,IT'S RATHER UNCOMFORTABLE BECAUSE YOUR BLEEDING.HOWEVER IF U STILL WANT TO GO 4 IT I ADVISE U TO DO IT IN THE SHOWER SO THAT YOU DON'T GET STICKY..ON THE OTHERHAND YOUR PERIOD LASTS ONLY 4-7 DAYS SO TRY 2 KEEP UR HONYNESS LOW(LOL).IF UR STILL UP 4 IT THEN TELL YOUR BOYFRIEND FIRST COZ HE MAY ACTUALLY GET SCARED WHEN HE SEES SO MUCH BLOOD & SEX IS ABOUT HAPPYNESS NOT SADNESS.(BASED ON PERSONAL EXPERIENCE)

I personally think that if you wanna do it thats fine but there is a much greater risk for diseases and such being transferred with the amount of blood for this rather then the amount you would have during normal intercourse

Personally I am most horny when I am on my period. Try it in the shower, then it won't feel as "gross" being your first time. It gets easier and I think it's fine!
