My dog eats her own poop. YUCK!!!!!?

Question

How can I get her to stop? It makes me violently ill just thinking about it. Aside from picking up the poop--I just want her not to WANT to eat it!! She's well fed otherwise.
PS I tried the pills. No Go.
She's a 2 yr old Australian Shepard

oh, and yeah, i know those pills and powder are supposed to make it taste bad---but it ALREADY TASTES BAD doesn't it? It's freakin POOP!

My dog does this too!!! It is VERY disgusting! He did it once when he had an accident in our house. I can't explain the sickening feeling of smelling it and seeing where it USED to be knowing he ate his own $hit. Me and my husband were dry heaving uncontrolably.

I asked my vet about this when he went in for a regular check up and she told me many dogs do this and it is not sdomething to worry about.

We make sure our yard is picked up so he is not "tempted" and he doesn't have accidents anymore so the problem has basically been solved.

Pick up the yard-that is the best solution. Also, try MSG on her food for a month. My little lovey does this too-but only frozen ones. I scoop the yard daily to remove the tempting items and treated her food for a month so she got the bad taste. It is working so far-but if she locates another dogs poo, then she is all over that. Hey-could be worse, some dogs like to roll in it! Brushing teether beats washing the dog or cleaning the house!

the pills i got at petco for it worked for my rat terrier. the only thing else i would suggest is to talk to your vet and tell him or her everything there has to be something to help maybe you didnt get the right pills or did you give them to her long enough.
